Bréa Corcoran

Bréa Corcoran (b. 2000, Framingham, MA) is a painter based in Portland, Maine. They received their BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2022. Bréa is primarily a portrait artist, focused on creating intimate and colorful depictions of friends, family, and the self, as well as the environments around her.

Bréa’s work was featured in ‘Heat Wave,’ on view February 10-25, 2024.

“My work functions primarily as an investigation of solitude, the way we relate to our immediate environments, and the manifestation and self – portrayal of identity in the modern era. My paintings use saturated colors to depict often solitary subjects or objects, resulting in a layered atmosphere at once vibrant yet nostalgic. Often meticulously arranging and lighting the scenes I paint from, I am interested in crafting implied narratives within my work about mental health.”

Bréa’s work was featured in ‘Critical Mass,’ on view August 12-27, 2023.

“These pieces focus on scenes of dramatic light and color from my everyday life.”
