“From the mouths of babes.
This series is in process, stitching quotes from children in Gaza onto once worn items of clothes (some worn by the artist’s own children).
Hand embroidered stitching is a slow, meditative process, deliberately chosen by the artist to sit in time with the voices, while also symbolizing mending and repair.”
Michelle’s work work was featured in ‘Critical Mass,’ on view August 12-27, 2023.
“A continuation of my discussions with string figures, thinking about what you see when you blink.”
Michelle’s work was featured in ‘All Together Now,’ on view February 11-26, 2023.
“This work studies the ancient technology of string figures and uses their inspiration in paintings to access the larger threads that combine to create everyday life.”
