Maggie Sanftleben (b. 1959) worked in Boston for 25 years as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for print and digital media. Six years ago, she moved into her Maine weekend home and converted a guest cottage into her studio. The stunning ocean, woods, and field landscapes inspired her to paint again.
Like most artists, she worked in several mediums (pan pastels, oils, and acrylics), learning something from all of them. Several years ago she became intrigued with Eencaustic painting and studied with various artists. The transition from using brushes to fire (a blowtorch) is exhilarating. She can manipulate this medium in many ways using pan pastels, India ink, charcoal, graphite, and photographs.
Maggie’s work was featured in ‘Glad You Asked,’ on view March 11-26, 2023.
“The change of seasons in Maine are blurred into several where land meets water.”
