Boy Nirvana

Boy Nirvana (Gawlik) (b. 1993, Lowell, MA) is a visual artist and museum educator based in New Hampshire. In their artwork, Boy explores themes of queerness and close looking at New England’s landscapes and folk art. Boy works on fabric using marker or on copy paper using pencil and ballpoint pen. In their art they use a combination of song lyrics, illustrations, and studies of nature to make sense of the memories and ephemera. Professionally, Boy works as a museum teacher at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and as a Education Fellow at the Fitchburg Art Museum. In the museum their work aims to center personal connection and close looking practices. Boy can be found wearing all blue with big headphones on listening to Nine Inch Nails.
