Jonathan Pereira (b. 2001, Manchester, NH) is an artist who is always eager to think outside of the box. Exploring the possibilities of mixed media through techniques involving mostly oil paints, Pereira is endlessly fixated on expanding his skillset and creating new, exciting; thought provoking work. When he is not focused on finding connections within his work to his own real life (and that around him) he searches for inspiration through music, visual arts and various other forms of pop culture. Growing up in the city of Manchester, he often found himself motivated to make work by his classmates, and local passerbys. Since he was a teenager, he’s been exploring the world of public art, sharing and spreading different items around with a recognizable motif that he often recycles. Since his time at New England College, Jonathan has been taking the time to better himself as a student, artist; and young man. He believes that focusing on these areas within his own life, will help him blossom right into whatever he is supposed to be. For now, he continues to find ways to grab attention from the viewer, and create conversations out of creative compositions.
Jonathan’s work was featured in ‘Group Effort,’ on view August 10-September 1, 2024.
“My work is an ongoing reflection of my relationship with myself and my surroundings. There is an impulsive and spontaneous quality about my work that gives the viewer visual and contextual evidence of my creative practice. The immediacy of my process makes the work feel autobiographical- like a snapshot or moment in time. The abstract quality of the work allows the viewer to sense this, but not to fully experience the space I was in when it was created.”
Jonathan Drew That!’s work was featured in ‘Critical Mass,’ on view August 12-27, 2023.
“In this piece, I attempt to channel my inner Cézanne, mixed with the curious, colorful modern nature of the works of David Hockney. I aimed to create a unique, yet relatable composition that feels like you’re walking into something completely normal; and abstracted at the same time.”
