Abdiel Rodriguez

Abdiel Rodriguez (b. 1990, Springfield. MA) was born and raised with learning disabilities. Abdiel had never took a brush and paint since birth. So, he started painting during of pandemic. He had painting materials before pandemic but never painted because he never know the skills but he still had interest in arts.

Abdiel watched art videos for beginners doing silhouette with nature. Then he started painting and painting and continue growing and developing more despite the imperfection and making same mistakes.

Abdiel continued to learn more so he decided to do something else. By painting hibiscus flowers and birds. But birds became his main focus. Because he learned that some are exotic, unseen and maybe endangered so they need to be remembered and discovered. Enjoying God’s creation

Abdiel was interested in portraits so took classes of Charles Bargue in a online course for a year. So he got a certificate despite making the same mistakes. Nobody is perfect.

Abdiel’s artwork was featured in ‘Joy!,’ on view December 13-21, 2025.
