Dan Griffin

Dan Griffin (b. 1959) was born in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1958. He studied painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and Sanctuary Arts, Eliot, ME. His work has been exhibited at the Seacoast Artist Association Gallery, Exeter, NH; the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH; and the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts, Rochester, NH. His influences include Caravaggio and John Singer Sargent. People are his subject matter, and he is intrigued by the notion that people of all colors can be convincingly rendered in any color or no color at all.

Dan’s work was featured in ‘Glad You Asked,’ on view March 11-26, 2023.

“I am intrigued by the notion that we can convincingly render people of all colors by using any color or no color at all. Please consider Red Cloud in black and white.”
