Daniela Wenzel

Daniela Wenzel (b. 1978, Germany) is a New Hampshire based multi-disciplinary artists, whose colorful works encompass narrative and abstract oil painting, fiber work and quilt making as well as driftwood pyrography on a quest to meld all elements together.

Daniela’s work was featured in ‘Threads,’ on view July 13-28, 2024.

“I consider myself primarily a painter, who creates geometric and biomorphic abstraction utilizing an array of materials, substrates and techniques including oil painting, improvised quilting, driftwood pyrography and conceptual found object sculpture. My practice follows the seasons in a rotating rhythm and my different practices inform each other and keep me engaged and inspired. I am extremely process oriented and gravitate toward elaborate and time consuming works. This is particularly evident in the intricate hand stitched quilts i produce. My wall hangings are almost entirely made from other quilter’s fabric scraps that I seem to inherit and collect until inspiration strikes and I feel drawn to create mostly utilitarian pieces, but occasionally also decorative works. The hand stitching provides hours of tactile entertainment.”

Daniela work was featured â€˜Wish List’ on view December 9-22, 2023.

“Geometric pattern and colorful mark making experimentation are defining elements and predominant subject matter in all my creative disciplines.”

Daniela’s work was featured in ‘Critical Mass,’ on view August 12-27, 2023.

“Geometric patterns and playful mark making are defining elements and predominant subject matter encompassing all of my artistic disciplines. I am less interested in painting the world in a representational manner than to depict the unseen; perceptions, emotions, dreams and all things subconscious and sometimes bizarre.”

Daniela’s work was featured in ‘Glad You Asked,’ on view March 11-26, 2023.

“I am interested in experiments with color and pattern and I draw inspiration from the natural and man-made environment.”
