Emily Dallaire

Emily Dallaire (b. 2002, Nottingham, NH) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Hampshire in 2025. Emily has exhibited at UNH Gallery of Art, NH Art Association, and the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center.

Emily’s artwork was featured in ‘Primary Instincts’, on view March 14-29, 2026.

“As I began this work, all I was looking for was the most intentional and effective language to communicate nothing but the feeling of Joy. A simple emotion, yes, but endless in its benefits and limitless in its potential. I, and many others, often forget about the simplicity and accessibility of Joy, because it’s simple and easy to take for granted. It’s not always loud, it’s not always extraordinary, but with intention, it is dependable, recognizable, and achievable. Above all else, it is necessary.

This body of work began as, and continues to be, a search for the roots of Joy. To create forms, colors, and compositions that are all physical representations of this emotion. As I finished this series and stepped back from these works, I recognized more and more the relationship between them, the interaction between forms, and what that causes: Connection. These forms I came to recognize as humanoid, abstract personifications of love, friendship, and support—the basis of joy in my life.”
