Holden Willard (b. 1999) is a old recent graduate of Montserrat College of Art. In May of 2021 he received a BFA in Painting, however, his interests serve multiple mediums: printmaking, photography, performance, collage & woodworking. He was born and raised in Maine, and is currently living in Portland ME. His work is concerned with a coming of age narrative in rural Maine. He is mainly striving towards creating a dialogue between the past, present and future – be it through the lens of family, friends and environment. To his mind, these are essential devices that he utilizes to create a coming of age narrative in rural Maine. Images from home, adventures of youth, fears and anxieties expressed through eyesight and posture – all in an effort of saying the unsaid.
Holden’s work was featured in ‘All Together Now,’ on view February 11-26, 2023.
