Jane Cohen (b. 1945, Winnipeg, Manitoba) has been making art as soon as she could hold a crayon. Jane grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Kansas.
Jane has worked at Hallmark cards as writer and illustrator, in Boston as art director in advertising, and in New Hampshire a successful freelance designer and has always maintained a painting practice. Jane is now a full time studio artist living in Canterbury, NH.
Jane’s work was featured in ‘Group Effort,’ on view August 10-September 1, 2024.
“These paintings are small conversations with color.”
Jane’s work was featured in ‘Push Pull,’ on view January 13-28, 2023.
“My purpose with paint and all materials is to just let it happen. Most of these pieces started with a monoprint, then I started to add layers of paint spontaneously and at random to create a composition. I like to be unpredictable. Lately the work coming out of my studio is pretty vibrant, that might have something to do with the weather. I am creating some visual heat.”
