Katherine Gerwig

Katherine Gerwig (b. 1971, Portland, ME) is a mixed media artist and arts educator who grew up in Maine. She attended The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. She currently lives in Portland, Maine. Kate thrives on jumping from one material to another, never settling on one thing for long. She is driven to make work about the experience of being human.

Katherine’s work was featured in ‘Critical Mass,’ on view August 12-27, 2023.

“This is from a series of collages titled ‘Talking to Myself,’ about the internal dialogue and its tendencies for both harsh criticism and tender acceptance.”
