Rebecca Pempek

Rebecca Pempek (b. 1998) is a visual artist and teacher from Putnam, CT. She graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, NC, with a B.A. in Studio Art. She currently teaches at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. She previously spent time as an artist-in-residence in Iceland, studying the relationship between the changing landscape and folklore.

She describes her large-scale mixed media works on paper as “psychological landscapes,” taking inspiration from her immediate environmental surroundings and phenomena and rendering them abstractly to create a transcendental cognitive scape.

Rebecca’s work was featured in ‘Glad You Asked,’ on view March 11-26, 2023.

“This piece is part of an ongoing exploration of New Hampshire’s seacoast region. Some of the phenomena and themes I have been exploring directly correlate to the Squamscott river and this past summer’s drought.”
