Sharon Chandler

Sharon Chandler (b. 1957, Harvard, MA) earned her art education degree with a studio minor in Jewelry, Weaving and Ceramics from UMass Dartmouth and returned to her hometown to become the art teacher.

Since a young child, Sharon has always believed that art was where she was her best self. The opportunity to transform materials by making creative decisions was always pure joy! When you are an art teacher it allows you to experience all genres of the art world.

Over the years, it was the world of fiber, using wool and cotton that Sharon used to express and share her stories. Sharon earned her graduate degree, a masters in creative arts and her thesis was on WOOL!

Throughout her tenure at the Harvard Public Schools, Sharon also introduced sewing machines into the classroom. How to use the sewing machine and hand stitch cloth became hugely popular. Sharon is now an accomplished quilter and two quilts were recently acquired to be part of a museum permanent collection. This is an exciting time to be a fiber artist and most of what Sharon exhibits is work in fiber.

Sharon’s artwork was featured in ‘Enfolded‘ on view May 9-31, 2026.

“This is work that holds or captures a feeling by using the warmth of wool or cotton. Some of the work has attached natural objects to celebrate where I am currently living. The power of living in a peaceful space has fueled my creativity by stitching and needle felting stories.”
