Alex Leith (b. 1989, Portsmouth, NH) grew up in Portsmouth New Hampshire where his father runs a Funeral Home. The artist attended the University of New Hampshire BFA program with a focus in Painting and Printmaking from fall 2008 to spring 2014 when he then moved to Philadelphia, PA to further his passion in the arts and culinary arts. In 2021 he relocated to Newmarket, NH where he has found particular inspiration in the surrounding landscape.
Alex’s work was featured in ‘Omen,’ on view October 12-27, 2024.
“Alex focuses on exploring relationships between texture, color, shape, and mark making to find luminous movement in paintings embodying emodying “Chronoluminarism” (derived from Chromoluminarism, a post-impressionist term also known as Divisionism) to help convey his interest in time, light and color. The artwork investigates the powerful creative forces beyond our literal field of vision and aims to delineate the spirit emanating from the landscape.”
Alex’s work was featured in ‘Group Effort,’ on view August 10-September 1, 2024.
