The National Sport of Watching Jackie Kennedy

All the women in Pleasantville, it seemed, are obsessed with Jackie Kennedy, especially after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. They all love her sense of fashion, skirt suits, and pillbox hats. They especially love following her romance and marriage to Aristotle Onasis. It seemed you couldn’t flip through a magazine or turn on the television without seeing “Jackie O.” Carolyn’s husband Fredrick recently purchased a portable television for her so he can watch the evening news and sports on the console television in their living room, but Carolyn can watch her “programs” in their bedroom and simply stick the portable television it in her nightstand drawer when she’s done.
